Agra’s Taj Mahal is one of the new wonders of the world, with the complexity of its architecture and background story. It is considered one of the most imposing and beautiful buildings in India. Out of deep mourning for his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal, Shah Jahan had this monument erected in 1631 to preserve her memory.
A popular photo subject is the moonlight garden, which changes its color at different times of the day and displays the solstices with its four pavilions.
Reality
Due to heavy environmental impact, the marble has started to assume a light yellow color. Therefore, all car and bus traffic within a radius of two kilometers was banned.
You have to either make a short walk through the annoying street vendors or drive with an expensive horse wagon. Also, be patient with the strict security controls.
Nevertheless, you will be surprised by the large amount of tourists. After all, the Taj Mahal is a wonder of the world and hardly a visitor will turn around just before the finish line and drive home.
